Performance Comparison of Overlap FDE and Sliding-Window Chip Equalization for Multi-Code DS-CDMA in a Frequency-Selective Fading Channel

چکیده
Recently, overlap frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion which requires no guard interval (GI) insertion was proposed for signal transmission using multi-code direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) in a frequency-selective fading channel. Another promising equalization technique is time-domain sliding-window chip equalization (SWCE). In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) performances achievable with overlap FDE and SWCE are compared. It is shown that, by extending the fast Fourier transform (FFT) block size, overlap FDE can achieve almost the same BER performance as SWCE with much less computational complexity than SWCE. key words: overlap FDE, sliding-window chip equalization (SWCE), DSCDMA

Frequency-domain Pre-Equalization for Multi-code DS-CDMA Mobile Radio
Frequency-domain pre-equalization (pre-FDE) transmission can be used instead of FDE reception for improving the transmission performance in a severe frequency-selective fading channel. Antenna diversity technique is also a well-known technique for improving the transmission performance, especially, transmit antenna diversity technique has been attracting much attention. In this paper, we propos...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Multi-Rate DS-CDMA Using Frequency-Domain Equalization in a Frequency-Selective Fading Channel
Joint frequency-domain equalization (FDE) and antenna diversity combining is applied to the reception of multi-rate DS-CDMA signals to achieve the frequency diversity effect while suppressing interpath interference (IPI) resulting from the asynchronism of different propagation paths. At a receiver, fast Fourier transform (FFT) is applied for FDE and then inverse FFT (IFFT) is used to obtain a f...
متن کاملPilot-Assisted Channel Estimation for Orthogonal Multi-Carrier DS-CDMA with Frequency-Domain Equalization
Orthogonal multi-carrier direct sequence code division multiple access (orthogonal MC DS-CDMA) is a combination of time-domain spreading and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In orthogonal MC DS-CDMA, the frequency diversity gain can be obtained by applying frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion to a block of OFDM symbols and can...
متن کاملComparison of Chip Interleaved MC-CDMA and DS-CDMA with Frequency- domain Equalization
DS-CDMA with minimum mean square error frequency-domain equalization (MMSE-FDE) can provide much better performance than that with rake combining in a frequency-selective fading channel and is comparable to that of MC-CDMA with MMSEFDE. Chip interleaving is a form of channel interleaving that improves the DS-CDMA performance by converting the channel into a highly time-selective channel; the ti...
متن کاملFrequency-domain Differential Detection and Equalization for 2-dimensional spread/chip-interleaved DS-CDMA
Abstract The multiple-access interference (MAI) limits the performance of the DS-CDMA uplink transmission. 2D OVSF spread/chip-interleaved DS-CDMA is an MAI-free system, and hence single-user coherent frequency-domain equalization (FDE) can be used instead of complicated multiuser detection (MUD). However, coherent FDE needs channel estimation. Pilot-assisted channel estimation is not reliable ...
